Employee Fraud/ White Collar Crime

Employee fraud, or commonly refered to as white collar crime, is potentially the most lethal issue businesses face today.

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) recently reported that the typical organization loses six percent of its annual revenues to employee fraud. If multiplied by the U.S. Gross Domestic Product, which in 2009 topped $14 trillion, it would translate into $840 billion in annual employee fraud losses.

Small business employers are especially vulnerable to this problem due to the closer relationships they tend to hold with their employees. It is hard to imagine someone you trust, who you hang out with on weekends stealing you blind. And addressing the issue can be very sticky. How do you interview innocent employees in a way that will not damage your good relationships?

Employee Theft Investigation

Too often, signals pointing to employee theft, even when noticed, are mistakenly ascribed to chance, error, coincidence, or some other benign circumstance....and the signals are ignored.

An employee theft investigation may be in order.  The key to success in solving your issue is sometimes to do nothing on your own.  Acting hastily can sabotage your chances of proving employee theft or ever collecting damages.  An employee theft investigation is designed to gather the information needed to absolutely bring about not only and end to the losses but a written confession, recovery of lost money and or goods and even a criminal conviction if that is the desired end goal.
